Why does God allow Evil and Suffering in the World?

Many people, including myself at times, have wondered why God allows evil and suffering in the world? If God is really omnipotent (meaning "all-powerful), couldn't God have made a world that does not include evil and suffering. A perfect world with no war, no pain, no cancer, no mean teachers:-).

The answer is Yes, God could have created such a world and He did. It was called the Garden of Eden and it contained the first two humans...Adam and Eve. But God did not create humans as robots to worship and love Him because they had to. God loved us soooo much, as humans, that He wanted us to choose to love Him. God doesn't need our love but He WANTED our love. Therefore, Adam and Eve, as well as each one of us, have the ability to either love God and have a good relationship with Him or rebel against God and sin against Him. Well, as you know, Adam and Eve made their choice to disobey and sin against God. But as I always say "Each one of us have the choice of our decisions but we cannot choose the consequences of our decisions." And what was the consequence of Adam & Eve's disobedience? Evil, pain, suffering, war, famine, earthquakes, tornados, and any other thing that causes us pain. That's the bad news.

The good news is, God could have killed Adam and Eve right there and ended mankind as we know it. But once again He loved us sooooo much that "He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16)." God really really loves you and that is why we should want a relationship with Him. Not because we have to, but because we GET to. Not because God makes us, but because God LETS us. Think about how much God loves you TODAY!!!
