"Happiness" is something we all desire and hope for. Not only for ourselves but for all those we love as well. It has become, in today's society, that we even want those that we don't even know to be happy. Even the Declaration of Independence states that all humans have the legal right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Although this famous document mentions the "pursuit of happiness," it never reveals the source of happiness. So what is the source?
Colossians 1:16 states, "All things were created by him and for him." This verse states that we were created FOR Jesus Christ. Therefore, true happiness cannot be found without fulfilling the purpose of our creation: living FOR Christ. Many people in todays world, as well as in all of history, have tried to find happiness in fame, fortune, power, and success. Some try to find it in things like sex, alcohol, and drugs. But these things only provide the "pleasures of sin for a season (Heb. 11:25)." But true and PERMANENT happiness is found only in fulfilling the reason we were created by God Himself, TO LIVE FOR JESUS CHRIST.
